Our Work

Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC)

The Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) Digests provide a summary of testimonies given during each TRRC session in Gambia. They present the witnesses and list the names of the persons mentioned during testimony as having allegedly committed human rights violations and abuses and – as the case may be – their current position within State, regional or international institutions.

Memory House

Memory House serves as a memorial centre where the permanent exhibition The Duty to Remember is housed. A first of its kind initiative in The Gambia, it aims to promote peace, justice and contribute to building a lasting culture of human rights and empathy in the country.

Documentary

A short documentary about the West African migrants forcibly disappeared and killed in 2005 by Gambian security forces on orders of ex-dictator Yahya Jammeh. Official selection of the New York African Film Festival 2021.

Litigation cases

ANEKED pursues strategic litigation as part of its strategy to promote human rights.
We currently have five active cases. Given the sensitivity of the information, we are only able to highlight information available in the public domain.

Workshops & Conferences

By building strategic partnerships, we hope to learn more from the important experiences of fellow human rights defenders. Partnerships are built through formal and informal meetings, workshops, and mentorship programmes across and beyond the African continent.
